The Carl Sandburg College baseball team opened its Spring Break trip with a victory before dropping consecutive contests over the weekend.

SATURDAY
Sandburg 17, Lackawanna (Pa.) 5 (6 innings)
Key Moment

The Chargers trailed 2-0 before erupting for five runs in the fourth to take the lead for good. Antonio Dominguez (Rock Island, Ill./United Township) delivered a go-ahead, two-run double that plated Shane Coleman (Abingdon, Ill./Abingdon-Avon) and Cacey O’Brien (Moline, Ill./Moline) for a 3-2 advantage.

Coleman finished a home run away from a cycle, going 4 for 5 with three runs scored.

After the Chargers broke a 5-5 tie in the sixth with back-to-back home runs from Dominguez and Traub, Cumberland County plated three in the bottom of the seventh for a walk-off victory. Josh Parker’s two-out double to center knocked in the game-winning run.

Coleman tripled for the second straight day, going 2 for 4 with a run scored and two RBIs.
